Microsoft has kicked-off the process of laying down a new feature for windows users that it offers today through the Windows Insider program. This improvement enables one to get into the files that are stored in the Android smartphones that they own right from the Windows 11 Computers that are in their possession. To activate this feature, it is required to have a phone running on Android 11 or later only. A version of Android prior to Android 2.3 will not have the capabilitiy for this feature. Phone compatibility is a requirement to meet and having up to date phone is important in meeting this requirement.


Furthermore, you have to use the latest beta version of the Link to Windows app. Specifically, version 1. Jelly Bean 4.2.2 or above, specifically Android 4.2.2 build number 24071 or newer is required. Look for the version number in the play store to make sure it is up to date to the correct version.


Another requirement is a person has to be a member of the Windows Insider program. This program allows users to get the builds in advance and to use the functions which are not available to everyone yet. Check to see if you are registered and participating in the Insider program.


Actually, for this feature to work you must be running windows 11 on your computer. Make sure your system complies with this by verifying the version in the system preferences. It could be high time to upgrade to Windows 11.

Enabling Phone Access in File Explorer
