Speak & See: Transform Your WhatsApp Voice Notes into Instant Text

The availability of the transcription feature of the chats makes it even more appealing to the users of the application. This tool acts as voice to text recorder so that you do not have to listen to conversations time and again to revise them.

This feature is, therefore, very helpful for people who take recordings of important discussions most of the time. One of the features that I like about WhatsApp is that when there is a voice note you don’t have to type what was said on the voice note since the application will automatically convert it into text.

The transcription option is in several language which means the app developers have considered the need of many users across the world. Activated it allows the voice note to be recorded and the text of the note to appear below and to the right of the note for immediate referral.

Like all its interfaces, WhatsApp guarantees that these transcriptions are kept personal. Voice notes are encrypted from end-to-end and the text versions are not provided to any third party thus the secured conversation.

Voice Notes to Text: WhatsApp’s New Android Feature Transcribes Your Messages Instantly

The new feature that WhatsApp has added to its app for Android is that the company has enabled voice notes dictation. This feature can be activated from the setting of this app, which means that those who find it helpful to have message written down for them, can simply activate the feature to have their message translated into writing.

Once the transcription option is activated users will be presented with a message under each voice note asking them, whether they wish to transcribe the created note. Located at the bottom of the voice note is a button labeled ‘transcript’, and by clicking this button, WhatsApp will unfold the transcription of the voice note below ensuring that the user can easily go through it.

There will be a text version of message that is usually of about 90 MB and contains a word for word description of the voice message. However, currently, this feature is available only on the application’s mobile version; the Web version of WhatsApp does not support it.

WhatsApp’s transcription feature supports five languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Hindi a;nd other Indo-European and Slavic languages. Such multilingual support ensures that many users of the impact factor can also benefit from this new function.

In case the users are satisfied with the transcription feature but they need to disable it they can easily do it in the Settings option as follow Settings>Chats>Voice Message Text Toggle. This provides them with room to maneuver on how frequent they attend to the voice notes section.

Secure and Seamless: WhatsApp’s Encrypted Voice-to-Text Transcription

In addition, all new voice messages in WhatsApp have been subjected to end-to-end encryption, so no one can penetrable into your messages. It means that even developers of WhatsApp are unable to listen to contents of the voice messages that you send. Also, the text transcripts derived from these messages are never disclosed to anyone and therefore you are protected.

The transcription feature that is available on the WhatsApp is quite effective with an estimated success rate of 95%. However, there is one drawback; the system can mishear the words, if they are said softly or not clearly pronounced. Still, due to such a high accuracy rate, the feature remains useful to users, with further optimisations likely in the future.

As a result, one of the most significant advantages of implementing this feature is the ability to work in two directions. The transcribing feature doesn’t only allow you to transcribe voice notes that you have received from other persons, but also the voice messages that you have recorded and sent to other persons. This brings an extra dimension of usability and ease of use to those who find it easier to read than listen.

In addition, the transcription was done as well and it is fully embedded within the application so that users are able to review their transcriptions directly from the same conversation without the need to head somewhere else. This integration helps to make sure that feature added to the interface would be a value for the interaction and does not hinder the interaction process.

In general, the feature of transcription in the WhatsApp has a perfect fit for its purpose: it is safe and extremely convenient to use in correspondence to turn voice messages into text messages.
