WhatsApp is continually investing its efforts to bring in new features which could improve the overall experience of users. It’s getting ready to release a feature that will enable users to change color of chat bubbles and backgrounds of the chat interface. This will be made possible by either producing designs based on the set themes or other color and background preferences.

WhatsApp's Exciting New Features: Custom Themes and Enhanced Privacy Controls

This next feature will allow various degrees of customization for the users. Users will be able to pick from ready-to-go themes or merge colors/ background of their preference to achieve a specific theme. This is to ensure that chats become more polite and literally eye-catching.

Apart from the subjects of the chat, WhatsApp is in the process of implementing a feature where the user will be able to choose a user name to be used in the chat and input a PIN no as well. This improvement is supposed to give the users immunity from the so called ‘stranger danger’ and enhance privacy by allowing users only to decide with whom they would like to chat.

New theme options in a beta version of the app for Android was found by feature tracker WABetaInfo. Though, these themes weren’t available at that time but now they are shown in the beta update of iOS 24 version. 17. 10. 71, as well as providing users with an insight of the next feature to be released.

Initially landing in WhatsApp, the application’s new theme feature will include 10 default choices. These themes will include having the backgrounds as plain colors and also having other backgrounds to do with landscapes and chats bubble colors that are in harmony with the back ground colors.

Although these features such as the theme and username PIN are still work in progress, they should be released for beta testers anytime now. When fine-tuned, these attributes are to be released for all users, improving flexibility and the users’ anonymity within the site.

WhatsApp's Upcoming Features: Personalized Themes and Privacy-Boosting Usernames

The hot button of selecting themes in WhatsApp is still shut for beta tester. Even if you got the updated beta version through TestFlight the theme selector feature is not complete and will be unavailable until it is ready for testing.

In a blog article in WABetaInfo, it was disclosed that once the theme selector starts rolling out, the themes will be exclusive to the applying user. This is in contrast to other apps such as Instagram or Messenger in which all participants in a chat have the color scheme in common.

Apart from the theme selector, there is a new username feature which is currently under development by WhatsApp. This will enable the users to create new discussions with other users without revealing their phone numbers; hence making it more convenient to communicate with each other.

Even if the username feature is not yet in the beta testers, the implementation will ease the creation of new conversation. This enhancement has the purpose of enabling and strengthening the ability to communicate with others people through the application of WhatsApp.

WhatsApp is also planning for a new feature that will provide extra level of privacy once a username has been created. This added layer is meant to increase the protection of the identities of the users and to give them the ability to decide who of the contacts in the messenger can see them in the given social network.

WhatsApp's New Username PIN: Boosting Privacy and Combatting Spam

The latest beta update for the WhatsApp application for the Android devices is the version 2. 24. 18. 2 The new feature that is presented in the programme is called the ‘Username PIN’ selection tool. WABetaInfo has posted that this tool will improve the level of control of users over who can start chats.

Through the Username PIN feature, it will be possible for the users to create a PIN after entering a unique username. This layer of security is supposed to make sure that one does not receive spam messages in the Blackberry Messenger.

To date, the Username PIN field is not yet implemented although it is covered in this chapter as part of this development. Although it’s a part of the current beta build, it will not be delivered to all beta users at once and will be gradually released.

This feature is going to be used to supplement the currently in-making ‘theme selector’ feature. The former is considered as the latest in a string of measures that have recently been implemented to the mobile app in a bid to boost of user experience as well as step up the privacy of users.

As soon as the development and testing of the ‘Username PIN tool’ have been completed, it will be provided to the users for the beta testing before releasing in the market. This will provide the users an input by using them to test the new security measure to assess its efficiency.
