A group of engineering students from Sweden has developed an application that allows users, especially families, to monitor and allocate tasks within a home. Using this app, the users can assign tasks, so each of the members of the household knows what he or she has to do. It offers a means to assign and share frequently occurring household chores conveniently and without much confusion.
Swedish App Brings Harmony to Household Chores
Marco and Neha Sarcevic and their two children were among the first who tested the APP; they live in the rather prospering Täby suburb near Stockholm and noted that is was convenient for their lifestyle. The couple, who both work and own businesses, were in search of better organisation of the household chores.
Speaking to AFP, Neha added that, in their view, there were no drawbacks to attempting the app. She seriously believed it could find a solution to some of their household issues by managing the children’s activities as well as the house chores. Marco said this was okay with him adding that the application created discussions regarding who does what at home.
The designed structure is quite very easy yet efficient strengths of the proposed application. So depending on the day of the week through her phone neha can check what her family members has been assigned to do, whether it is to hang the children coats when they come from school, empty sports bags or do the laundry. As a result of this, it alleviates congestion of chores within the family by listing down explicit responsibilities so that, any family member is able to render his or her chores on time.
The recently launched app has received about 2,000 users and helps to start family discussions and increase responsibility. From the case of the Sarcevic family alone it has already given a noticeable credit to simplifying their household. I SWOT analysis of the application shows that Neha likes the fact that it is easy to use as it allows her to follow up with the tasks without getting the feeling that someone has already done them.
Swedish App Turns Household Chores into a Game
The direction in which the app is designed is really quite simple. Users can enter their selected tasks into the platform and they are properly categorized and easily seen. After the tasks have been allocated members of the families are able to monitor the progress and determine who is in charge of the chore.
If ever there is a failure to meet a set task, then the app gives reminders to make sure everything runs as scheduled. This enables those who are involved in the project to feel reminded frequently than when you had to nag them all through the day. Another early respondent, Neha, submitted that she like this aspect and she probably doesn’t use reminders frequently.
Viktor Fredriksson got the idea for the app when his father told him to tidy up his room and wash his clothes for the third time. Sick of this constant remembrance, once Viktors father said with humor, “Why don’t you make an application against it so that I shall cease troubling you?”
This advice from his father Viktor did not take lightly for him and consulted his associate Markus Balmann. Together, the two 23-year-olds translated the idea into an application of making chores less of a problem in a household.
From a little idea of helping Viktor work around a certain issue the application has grown to gain popularity and usage by thousands of individuals. The main feature of the app is it turns the household tasks neatly into a system and introduces humor to complete the chores every day.
Creating Harmony at Home with a Chore App
Viktor Fredriksson and his team created the app with an objective of making the household jobs as a fun activity. Concerned that family members may not appreciate how much others are accomplishing or how much work remains undone, they implemented a points system for completed tasks in order to make the desire to do more household tasks reciprocal.
Fredriksson continued to say that the target was to create families with much more harmony and in achieving this he focused on aspects of family life where they stubbornly or encounter challenges in doing chores. The use of incentives in the app aids in support of this concept of cooperative feelings of responsibility among the stakeholders.
The application which was released early this September enables one to reciprocate the gestures where family members could used it to say thank you when the tasks are accomplished. As the specific chores are assigned to individuals, the accountability for respective chores is created with the help of the app in addition to making it easier to notice everyone’s contribution to the household.
Another feature of the app is the provision of domestic services, and how it reduces the gender imbalance in this type of jobs. As Fredriksson pointed out the platform draws awareness to certain tasks, by focusing on who does what, the otherwise invisible work is made visible and the traditional division of gender roles in families is abolished.
The issue of unequal domestic labor is significant: According to the United Nation Women’s 2023 survey on empowered women, women use 2.8 more hours than men in unpaid care work. Fredriksson said he wants the app to help people discuss more about the issue so families like Neha and Marco’s who also wanted to involve their children in the future will also find balance in the division of chores.
Turning Chores into Rewards: A Family’s New Routine
Marco and Neha have used their innovation to ensure that their children can also help with some of the house chores. So, they start their kids on a points system where in order to earn points, they have to clean their room or help prepare dinner. They can then convert the latter to a value for their allowance hence making chores become like a fun and game.
Not only does this approach also instill responsibility, the organizing of things is also made lighter. The couple has realised that the points system help encourage the children to participate in the family chores. Everybody is a winner since the children participate, while for Marco and Neha the progress can be monitored.
Through baby sitting, the couple is able to do a proper balancing between work and home since there is help from a babysitter in managing the children. Neha has mentioned that the app mostly involves a lot of role in managing the household activities without any usual stress. She can check the tasks and see whether things such as feeding and administration of bath to the teenagers are being undertaken.
Neha described how the app has made her live as a mother a little easier. She does not have to be concerned if her children have eaten or have taken shower or bath as the application is an indication of the same. This affords her some comfort since she can follow from the comfort of her office that everything is in order.
Through the particular app, it is much easier for Neha and Marco who are able to organize their routine and manage with the household chores. The points, therefore, enhance the comprehension of their children the im portance of performing tasks in the house as well as fostering a pleasant environment without forcing the children to clean.
